Bringing provincial charm home.
A simple suburban bungalow was ready for a new life with its small chopped up floor plan, bland design and dated fixtures. This client wished to capture the energy, colour and history of the south of France in her home to enjoy for a lifetime with family and friends. The house was extensively re-planned with a new layout, reconfiguring the entire main floor. The kitchen moved, a dining space was added, a new powder room created and a full bathroom incorporated so the main floor could function better.
All cabinetry from the gable walls to the kick plates, the drawer fronts to the drawer interiors are made from solid Canadian Maple. Hand-painted tiles, framed original art from Europe and custom made furniture add to this bright happy home, reminiscent of the sun filled shores of Nice and Cannes.
All cabinetry was custom-crafted in Ontario, made from solid Maple. The island in dark stain and soft turquoise on the cabinetry were combined to capture the quality and timelessness of unique, Provence style.

The double porcelain apron sink offers all the charm of French country with the function of modern society.
A wall of built-in appliances unifies the space, including the refrigerator behind the paneled doors.
Hand painted tiles are framed above the range. The fume hood was custom-designed and built to suit the design aesthetic.
The deep pot drawers feature dovetail joinery and under-mounted drawer slides. The high quality oiled bronze hardware is imported from Germany.
The drapery fabric was the inspiration for the whole kitchen. The chandelier is the crowning glory of the island.
A desk and work area was incorporated into a corner, away from the busy kitchen, yet close enough to multi-task.
This custom designed office work desk provides multi-modern functions, yet looks like it came from the past.
The dining table is built into the open concept kitchen. The is solid maple table is custom-built for the space to hold family and friends. The chairs were upholstered in two different fabrics and patterns for a one-of-a-kind design.
The servery acts as a satellite kitchen space. It provides storage for extra platters, table ware and linens, a beverage center and counter space to serve buffet style when needed.
Nestled in the bay window, this seating area captures the French provincial theme that is personally, meaningful to the homeowners. Custom-made Roman blinds, corner cabinets and leather chairs complete the perfect picture.
A powder room features a jewel-like wall of tile to complement the French country blue on the walls. A delicately curved, modern sink fits perfectly in this diminutive space.
Classically French in spirit but built with modern function in mind. This bathroom is shared by the two adult children at home.
The custom-made cabinetry in the full bathroom is also painted in the spirit of French country.
