JANE LOCKHART B.A.A.I.D.

Jane makes it all seem so easy. Her broad-based knowledge of colour and design and her understanding of the needs of homeowners have made her an authority — on TV, in print and in personal appearances — on how to set a personal style in the home. It's not just her knowledge that people respond to; Jane takes the mystery out of design-talk with a straightforward approach that inspires even beginners to bring style into their homes.

An experienced independent design professional, Jane is an award-winning graduate of the four-year course of the School of Interior Design, Ryerson University, Toronto. Jane is a member of ARIDO and teaches part time. Her portfolio contains many successful retail, theatrical, restaurant and residential projects, and she has earned a reputation in the design profession as a highly-skilled faux painter and colour expert.

Jane collaborated with Benjamin Moore in the production of a best-selling project design book, Paint a Great Impression (over 250,000 copies sold!), promoted the use of colour and design at Home Shows, seminars and on lifestyle TV, lectured at universities, and won a number of awards at the annual International Interior Design Exposition (IIDEX), among them Best Booth Design and Best of Show Design for exhibit design.

In 1997 Jane set up her own design firm, Jane Lockhart Design Communications Inc. She soon found herself with another success on her hands — a TV series on HGTV Canada, One House - Two Looks. This program is a great showcase forJane's lively personality and her seemingly inexhaustible store of ideas.

In 2000, Jane co-wrote another design project book, Room Recipes - Cooking Up Style with Colour. This book demonstrates how anyone can create a personal style from the materials of their lives -- not just paint but fabrics, textures, furnishings, light, and prized belongings. Once again, Jane was a best-selling author, and toured Canada promoting the book.

Jane's fast-paced, fun, light-hearted style builds enthusiasm and excitement while still giving a solid grounding in the principles of colour and design.
