I am so excited to support the Toronto-based charity, Furniture Bank!
Furniture Bank is having their annual #ChairAffair where local designers have been asked to take a gently used chair and re-purpose it for a silent auction on November 12th, 2014. I have chosen an armchair that looks to be about 30 years old. I can’t wait to unveil it at the event! The only hint I am giving is that it coordinated perfectly with the theme of this year’s event – Canada!
My conceptualization of the chair and the before picture.

SUPPORT CHAIR AFFAIR 2014 – November 12, 2014
Furniture Bank is not open to the public; potential recipients of this service are referred by over 70 agencies in the GTA who deal with those in need on a daily basis. Once someone receives a referral to Furniture Bank, they are given an appointment and invited to ‘shop’ the warehouse with a Furniture Bank volunteer. The volunteer helps them pick-out as much furniture and household items as they require.
Furniture Bank was started by Sister Anne Schenck in 1998 and has helped over 60,000 individuals in need. If you have old furniture you wish to donate, contact furniturebank.org and arrange a pick up. You are charged for this pickup service but this money goes directly to support the charity and you will receive a full tax receipt for your donation.
