Paying tribute to the English pub, with a modern twist.
This hard-working couple with three children, love to travel and wanted a place at home to hang out and play with family and friends, just like an English pub. But not the stucco and dark beam look you’d expect, it had to have the essence of a pub but re-interpreted for a contemporary space. Their unfinished, walk-out basement was the perfect place for the transformation.
Starting from nothing but pink insulated walls, the entire area was space planned to accommodate a bathroom and spa, gym, entertainment area, sports pub bar area, pool table, card table, and a dining/games table.
With plenty of room for everything, this space is built for entertainment.
The bar top is hand-scraped, solid oak.
The seating area features the main entertainment cabinetry. This solid Canadian Maple unit was custom-made to feature the large screen TV and still have lots of open shelves for family mementos, kid’s pictures and travel treasures.
The travel photos throughout were taken by the family. Blown up and treated with sepia-toned tint gives it that old world feel.
Is it a blind or is it shears? It’s both! The Mandalay window shade is a flexible option for full privacy or light filtering.
Custom-made cabinetry in the bathroom is hand-crafted from solid, Canadian Maple.
